The Giovanni Lombardi Foundation

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Lombardi Engineering Ltd. established the "Lombardi Engineering Foundation" with the aim to promote research and development projects in the civil engineering field, preferably in the fields of rock mechanics, underground and hydraulic engineering. The Foundation wishes to support research projects of young engineers to improve the professional competence in the Canton of Ticino and in Switzerland in these important engineering areas.

75Award of the mandate “3D modelling for the project to clear the former Mitholz ammunition depot”

In a hard-fought competition, we won the mandate “3D modelling for the project to clear the former Mitholz ammunition depot” on behalf of armasuisse Immobilien.
The promising mandate is a cross-sectional assignment covering all planned work and includes 3D modelling to accompany all planning and realisation works. In addition to the comprehensive modelling (also in BIM) of the construction measures, the existing structure as well as the topography, geology and hydrogeology must also be integrated into the overall model.
We are very happy about the great success of this competition and to be able to contribute to the achievement of this complex project!

74Lima: The megacity moves forward with Line 2

​Last January saw the successful completion of the excavation by TBM of the first section of the future line 2 of the Lima metro, which began in September 2021. Line 2 will connect one of the largest agglomerations in South America.
On 26 January, the "breakthrough ceremony" of the TBM "Delia" at the Circunvalación station in the busy district of San Luis was celebrated, marking the end of the first stage after 720 m of excavation from the San Juan de Dios station.
Line 2, with an extension of 27 km that includes 27 stations, will drastically improve the mobility of the citizens of the capital of Peru thanks to the connection of the district of Ate with that of Callao.
Lombardi is proud to assist the Construction Consortium M2 Lima in its on-site technical assistance mission, which also includes design activities, monitoring and analysis of the excavation of the 17 km carried out with TBM. ​
